The Autons

While they are not named explicitly in the episode Rose, the shop dummies that come to life and menace the Doctor and Rose in the Nestene lair are called Autons. First encountered by the Doctor in his third incarnation, the creatures are blank-faced, plastic humanoids created by the Nestene Consciousness and animated by a tiny portion of its collective being. Each Auton has a gun hidden inside its hand, the fingers dropping away to allow it to fire. Bullets have no effect on the Autons.
