A renegade time lord, the Master has been the Doctor’s rival and enemy for many years. Once they were friends – they were even at school together. In fact, the two Time Lord’s – the last of the two Time Lord’s have a lot in common. Both left their home planet of Gallifrey, though while the Doctor wanted to explore the universe, the Master wanted to rule it. A psychopathic megalomaniac, the Master craves power and has no regard at all for the lives of other life forms. During the great Time War, the Master – like the Doctor – returned to help his own people against the Daleks. But when the Dalek Emperor took control of the Cruciform, the Master fled. He hid away even from himself – taking on human for.
